Frequently Asked Questions
When does Castlevania: Belmont's Curse release?
October 15, 2026, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Note: Steam renders release dates in your account's timezone, so some players see October 14 — it's the same global unlock (04:00 UTC on the 15th per SteamDB records).
How much does the game cost?
$29.99 / €29.99 — a mid-price release, consistent with a premium 2D action title. Pre-orders are open via the official Steam news post.
Who made it? Is KONAMI still involved?
KONAMI publishes and owns the franchise; development is by Evil Empire together with Motion Twin — the French studio collective behind Dead Cells. This is the same "KONAMI IP + Western specialist studio" model used for other recent franchise revivals.
Is it a Metroidvania or a classic linear Castlevania?
A Metroidvania: Steam's own tags list Metroidvania, Action, Action RPG, RPG and Action-Adventure. That points to the interconnected-map, ability-gated design of Symphony of the Night rather than the stage-based classicvanias.
Who do I play as?
Rose Belmont — a new female protagonist of the Belmont clan, flagged explicitly in the game's Steam features (Female Protagonist). She's the first female lead of a mainline Castlevania release.
Where does the story fit in the timeline?
23 years after Castlevania: Dracula's Curse (the NES classic set in 1476). Expect callbacks to Trevor Belmont's era; the official tagline is "Crimson Curse — Will Your Fate Bloom in Despair or Salvation".
Do I need to play earlier games first?
No. New-protagonist-plus-time-skip makes this a designed entry point. If you want context, our play-order guide lists the two best primers (Dracula's Curse for story, Dead Cells for the developers' combat feel).
Is it on Nintendo Switch?
A Switch version is confirmed but undated as of October 2026 (~6 GB install vs ~10 GB on PC).
What languages will it support?
Full language lists appear on the store page at launch; KONAMI's recent 2D releases have shipped with English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese (Simplified/Traditional). Verify on the Steam page at release — we only publish confirmed facts.
Is this an official guide site?
No — this is an unofficial fan guide, not affiliated with or endorsed by KONAMI. We link to official sources for every factual claim and clearly mark pre-launch vs verified in-game content.
